It lives again!

I got my 77 back today from my bro-in-laws tranny shop. He had to order a new speedo gear housing to change the speedo gear set. Now I have a 700r4 that doesn't leak out the driveshaft yoke, has the correct speedo gears, and shifts when it's supposed to.

I'm not sure if the transmission shifting correctly made the difference, or the break in period preprogrammed in the ECM has passed, but the new motor is really coming to life now.

It pulls hard out of the hole at 1/2 throttle, and doesn't stop pulling through all the gears. I can't wait to get a few miles on it so I can hammer it full throttle.

The down side of all this is the alternator belt started slipping. I located a bracket that had a missing bolt. I have to chase down the correct bolt so I can get the belt tight and stop the squealing.

Yeah, I know this thread is worthless without pics. Sorry, but the truck was pretty dusty. I'll clean it up this weekend and get some current pics....

I am sure your truck dusty looks ten times better than mine clean, so throw those pictures up there.

Re: It lives again!

Glad to see the truck getting back to you Ken. Like you mentioned we're all waiting for pics.

What's the status of the Blazer? Better than mine I hope.

Re: It lives again!

Thanks everyone. I had to work till dark today, so no chance for pics yet. I plan to spend the day cleaning it up tomorrow. I'll get some pics and post them soon.

Brandon, the Blazer has been sitting still while the 77 gets finished. I plan to see about getting it back in the rotation soon...

Re: It lives again!

N2, it's good to hear that it's gets to getting.

After reading one of your latest installments on the air filter cover, you mentioned how your daugher said it looked like an aardvark's head. No dis intended, but it reminded me of the anteater in the Pink Panther. Unfortunately, everytime that I see a pterodactyljet..er I mean a ramjet 350, I see an aardvark's head. Ugh... Forever warped ....

Seriously, sounds like your rod got sicker...

Re: It lives again!

Ok, I know this isn't what your looking for but they will have to do for now. I spent most of the day detailing the truck. I had planned to get some motor pics, but ran out of daylight. Here's some exterior pics until tomorrow....

Re: It lives again!

Sorry man. I had some motor pics when I went to pick it up but the setting on the camera was all wrong for the lighting so they suck. I spent all day polishing the wheels, waxing the paint, and detailing the interior. By the time I got done and got a shower I had to leave to meet the photographer. When he was done, it was dark out.

I'm going to get it out again tomorrow and get some better motor pics then...

so uh, you'd even-swap for my truck, huh?

Sweet ride man, I've always loved your truck, especially because it has a natural look to it, like someone didn't just hack it to a milion pieces.

great stuff.

Re: It lives again!

Well I lied. I woke up this morning to find out my answering service had sent a long list of service calls to my service manager instead of me. Unfortunately he is on vacation so he never got them. I had to spend the day running all over town repairing equipment.

Since I didn't get a chance to take any better pics, I'll give you what I have. The lighting was messing with the camera up so the pics looks strange.
Sorry guys, but this will have to do for now.....

Damn Ken you could eat off that engine it's so clean.

What's the upper radiator hose so glossy for? It looks painted.

Re: It lives again!

Brandon look close at the ends of the hose and it will make more sense. The middle of the hose is steel tubing that is painted gloss black. It's an old school truck with a modern twist.
