91 Burb Starter wires

I have a 1991 Burb with 5.7L Installing starter and need wiring directions to complete. Have four wires to connect to M, R, and S Have tried several ways and seem to have either a short or a wrong connect as the batt cable when hooking up will spark.

It shouldn't spark when hooking up the battery cable. Are all the ring terminals the same size? You should only have one wire going to the S terminal...that is to energize the solenoid. I can't remember what all the other wires are for. Good Luck

Re: 91 Burb Starter wires

Still having fits with this. I have a wire coming off of the Positive Post of the Battery (second to the Battery Cable itself) If I leave this unconnected then the starter will crank. However I also have no electricity to lights and even the fuel pump. It has a small ring connector so it will not connect to the Large Post on the Solenoid and if connected to the S terminal it causes a spark when connecting the Battery. Still stumped

Re: 91 Burb Starter wires

FYI Main Battery cable goes to the Solenoid. Secondary one goes to the Generator. The Solenoid then has two cables connected to the M terminal and one small wire connected to the S terminal. The Suburban RUNS !!
