coil or leaf springs???????

I have a 71 chev 1/2 ton with coil springs on the rear. I have a chance to buy a 70 chev 1/2 ton parts truck with leaf springs on the rear. Is the leaf spring frame a rare option or is it common with certain years. Also what frame will I get the better ride out off. I'm thinking the coil springs and as this truck is going to be my sunday afternoon cruiser, I don't need to worry about towing capacity, it will never tow a trailer. I look forward to any info that is out there, Thanx

Re: coil or leaf springs???????

Ahuling/towing is rated the same either way.
Leafs were not rare, not common, but not rare. It was an option on all 67 - 72 C/10 and C/20 trucks, and it was the only rear suspention avalible on K series trucks, longhorn trucks, and all one tons.
You're probably better off with the coils. Better ride, better at putting poert to the ground.

Welcome to the board from central ohio. We love pics if you have any of your project.
