Re: 1969 gmc pickup
welcome to the board. sorry don't have any of the answers or items to watch for. AS for the tranny this year then the engine next seems kind of odd way to go, unless you will be using another 6 cylinder in future.

The FAQ section will help with tank mods. There are lots of combo's for the engine/tranny.If you post your plans the gang here at 67-72 chevy trucks will help you come up with a cost effective plan for what you want to do.
BTW the next few post's will include one informing you that "This thread is useless without pics"

Re: 1969 gmc pickup
What are you looking to do? keeping an inline? swapping to a small block? Big block?
Same with the tranny... You looking to keep on rowing your own gears? Do you want 3,4,5 or 6 gears? Or are you thinking more allong the lines of a slush box auto... again, 2 speed, 3 speed, 4 speed? Race truck? work truck? pro-fairgrounds type truck? |

Re: 1969 gmc pickup
Welcome! Changing it over to an auto tranny now would be compatible with a V8 if you go that way next year. Swapping over from a L6 to a V8 is pretty much straightforward in these trucks besides the obvious stuff like exhaust, moving the alternator wires around a little, and maybe a bigger radiator.
Oh, yeah...
