Question So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

No pictures yet, I goofed and forgot the camera. Saturday I did errands and took the family to see Cars. Saturday evening I finished up welding my firewall areas up on the 70. Got the patches for the floor ready to cut out and weld in where the floor shifter was. Today I shot the BS with board member EdB and picked up a new pressure wsher for the shop. I guess I'll assemble it tomorrow after work. Most of the evening was messing around with my son playing with his hot wheels and wathcing Hot Wheels movies while we raced each other.

So how's your weekend activities??

Angry Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Well it took me most of the morning, but I moved everything out of my garage, reorganized it, sweep the two years worth of dust and dirt out. All so my wife could put her car on one side of the garage. Guess what she did??????? Parked in the driveway. Thanks Honey.............

My accomplishment was actually getting the truck out for the first time this year to drive . I drove about 75 miles and enjoyed every minute!

Degreased and powerwashed the underside of the '88 Trooper- for 2 hours- on my back- in nasty black water that was pouring out. I guess after 180k miles the grime builds up pretty good. Time to get it undercoated again.

Still nothing to report. Can't leave the house except to go to physical therapy and doctors visit. Have appointment with doctor on Wed. and hope to get started on getting my problems fixed. On a good note I watched my drag racing hero win funny car today. !st win of the year for old John. Will check in later.

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Rest. Even though I returned to work last week I'm still nursing a broken arm. I'm glad to be back to work but it's physically exhausting after being out for a month. So, I rested. Did manage to repair the front steps today though.

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Well lets see I finished the front rocker replacement, patched the kick panel, finished welding up the new passenger side post/jamb, patched the sun visor area that was cut out for post replacement, created a decent door gap on the third door, built 3' of rain gutter on the pass side and shaved the fire wall. Other than that not a whole lot.

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Got the frame sprayed in DP90, assembled the bed and dropped it on the frame....whooo hoooo! I know it is only primer but it is going to run the summer that way! Drove the Longhorn to the auto parts and hardware store for every bolt I needed...now that was fun!

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

I drained the gas tank in my 67. I tried to siphen it out but I couldnt take the smell or the fumes off the 10 year old gas. I almost puked in my wifes flower bed. So I unhooked the fuel pump from the carb. I then took off the line and put it in a 5 gallon bucket and started turning the motor over and it started pumping the gas into the bucket. What I noticed is that when I stopped cranking the motor the gas was still flowing and it flowed the rest of the day until the gas was completely drained. Learn something new all the time. I also found out that the tires on the rear of the truck were rusted on and had to beat them off with a 3lb sledge. I need some new rims now. Oh well there cheap.

Removed the gas tank and then 5 hours to cut out the drivers sid rocker, floor and front cab support. Just a little more trimming to put in the new floor.

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Found some more rust when I removed the rest of the passenger side rocker so I ordered a pair of front pillar patch panels from Wes at Classic Heartbeat, test fitted my new rear pipes for the exhaust and today took em back in and got then front ends stretched a little so they will fit on the boxes and got the stainless steel tips welded on in the right place, thats 2 1/2" mild stell with 3" slash cut stainless tips with the ends rolled inwards coming out just in front of the rear wheels.

Rust:

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

I started stripping my rear fenders (front and back) along with the "steps." I almost think my DS fender is too beat up to use... oh well, it's already got the fuel filller door in it and I'm not about to swap it out now.....someday I'll buy some new repops....someday.....

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

Well my weekend started Friday with a little then ended like this I'm just glad I didn’t go out like this . Saturday was spent recovering at my company picnic, I think I got a little sicker from all the VP's and managers with there and . It made me want to and just tell them . Sunday was a little better. I spent the afternoon looking for a new digital camera but could not decide on the Sony cyber-shot DSC-H2 6mp or the DSC-H5 7.2mp. What do you fine folks out there think.

PS. sorry but just had to vent a little bit.

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

I cleaned about 10lbs of crud off the bottom of my truck, scraped and cleaned all the crossmembers, frame, etc. getting it ready to put the POR15 on it and cleaned up some before I take the bed off. I have my ECE C-notch and super track bar coming this week and need to get those items on next weekend. Oh, I also changed oil/filter and tried to chase down a phantom oil leak that appears to be my rear main seal. fun fun fun....

Re: So....What You Get Done This Weekend?

The wife and I took a long drive (about 400 miles round trip) to pick up a short fleet box, loaded it on the back of my pickup-should have taken it apart, but oh well.Got it home o.k., took it apart today. The floor and wheel wells are shot, but the sides look pretty good, in primer but all there. I'm happy, especially for $100! I'll try and post pic's soon.
