Re: Replacement Dash Info
EDIT: My response assumes you are asking about the pad, not the cluster or the entire dash assembly.
I have not replaced mine yet. Most of the posts I have seen indicate that the aftermarket pieces don't quite fit right, but are good enough for some folks. I have seen very few posts saying anything good about the glue on covers and a whole lot saying they are terrible. The most positive reports I have seen have been regarding OEM pieces. The downside, of course, is price. The last I heard was that you can't choose the color if you go OEM. You have to order it, and dye it the right color if you don't like what you get. This is the option I will probably go with if I can't find a used one. I hate stuff that does not fit right... Hopefully someone who has used the different options will give their opinion. Re: Replacement Dash Info
Well I just got my replacement dash in a week ago. I haven't installed it yet (that's not happening till after painting of the truck) but it looks really nice. I got the one made of OE material, but it is a replacement piece.
DEFINATELY do NOT use glue-over vynyl or covers... back in the day after my dash crashed and rotted my parents glued one of those things over my dash and it looks hideous. Again, I'm assuming also that you mean the dash pad. I also have a new dash bezel to go in, and it looks really high quality.

This is the feedback I recieved (an my opinion was of the same) of Dashes Direct's product, they are the only aftermarket company that I know of making complete replacement dashes: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=Dashes+Direct

Re: Replacement Dash Info
I got it from Chevy Duty (or w/e they are now)
Here's the quote direct from their page: "New padded dash, replaces cracked dash for a new look. Excellent reproduction of the original dash pad. Dyeable vinyl over foam, like original. Available in various colors, but can be dyed to match your interior. " It's listed as "OEM" but the description plainly says it is an "excellent reproductino".

Re: Replacement Dash Info
I purchased a reproduction dash pad for my 79 Chevy from GMC Paul's. I believe it is from Dashes Direct. Installed it this weekend, and have mixed opinions. It is acceptable, but it very flimsy compared to GM, particularly around the dash cluster and in the middle section by the speaker holes; don't know that I would recommend it. If I had it to do over again, I would purchase a GM and die it if necessary.

If you don't mind spending the money, and want it done to perfection, this is the way to go.
