My next project (like I need another one!!)
Well, I should really be working on the 68, but this thing has been staring at me for awhile now. I bought it from board member Kaycee about a year or so ago. I bought it mainly for the 305 V-6 engine, as a buddy needed one. I figured I would part the rest of it out and be done with it. Well, my buddy decided to sell his truck, so the GMC just sat.
I decided I would put it back together and sell it and use the money to put into the 68. I hadn’t really looked the truck over until this weekend, and it is surprisingly solid! No rust in the rockers or cab corners, but the inner rockers need replaced on both sides. The outer rockers are solid, but caved in. The bed needs a new drivers bedside, and I will need a driver front fender and a grill. I will also replace the front lower section of the right bed side. The rest of the body work should be fairly easy to fix. It needs a trans and a rear end, both of with I have. Along with some other things like brake lines and small stuff I have from the 68's old frame, I think I have all my bases covered. The plan is to fix all the rust, replace the bad sheet metal and fix the rest, install a TH-350 that I have, swap out the rear-end, and paint inside and out. I am not real crazy about the original color, so it will probably come down to a coin toss between red with a white roof, or medium green and a white roof. Then either some factory ralleys or some chrome somethingorothers. Here is what I am starting with. Sunday I got the right front fender off, the grill, and got most of the interior stripped out. I’ll keep updating this thread as I go along.

Looks like you have a good plan on what you want to do - that always is wise. Keep us posted.

Re: My next project (like I need another one!!)
I'm not sure if it is coral pink, or a very faded color called palomino tan. The glove box sticker is gone, so I really don't know.

Re: My next project (like I need another one!!)
Now that you broght it up, I went out and looked. There is a definate masking tape line in the door jambs, and over spray that fades as if the truck was painted with the fenders off. I also found a run, and it looks like the A-pillar was also white, along with the upper door frames.
As a side note, I found the following scribbles on the firewall: CM1590D - 124 Tinded W/S Radio 557 PG 498 992
