My 1968 GMC Project
Howdy all I am new here.. Just wanted to get you up to date on what I have been doing for the past 3 weeks.. This is a build I will update when I get the motor done.. and no im not in the pics its my best friend and older brother in them...

Yeah,you`re movin`along on it.It`ll be a nice GMC.I got a question on the XJ Cherokee.What lift is on it(size & maker) and what size tires?It`s "just right" and my wife recently bought an`01.I was thinking of finding some older-style wheels like that,too.Or,Take-off wheels`n`tires from a Rubicon.

Ill ask my friend the next time he comes around... He has done alot of work to that jeep... It use to be stock highth when he first got it ... I think he told me it has a 9in lift coil in the front he got off ebay... It isnt lifted to its full length do to the arms that run from the frame to the axle is to short and wont let the coil open up to its full length... Rear has a block in the back dont know the size but the air shocks he put on it helped raise it some to even it out. Tires I think are 33's... Next time he is around Ill let him post over this with the right info for you...

1968gimmy...you've been working on your truck less than I have and you're a lot closer to being done than I will be in a long time. By looking at the photos, I know exactly where you are located. We might have to meet up some time. Good luck with the build!

When you see it up close it isnt done by a long shot... I had my friend paint it so the body wouldnt rust any more and to make it 1 color... There isnt to much to repair on it... The gimmy set in a guys yard for 15 years and the weather got to it a little... Ill upload some more pics of when we first got the GMC.. I need to shrink them down to fit the forum...

 The exhaust is Flow tech headers with 2 and 1/2" pipe to the 3" Purple horny glass packs then a 3" to 4" reducer that goes to a 4" pipe for a Big Rig... That setup makes a sound like no other... deep and very loud... Im keeping mine old school like we use to hear growing up...

Here are a few pics of my motor im going to be getting back soon...
             He said that they have to rebalance everything... So it will be a few more days till I get it back... I went and talked to the motor builder and he got the parts back and put the lower end together... Said it will be done by Sat.. I added a few new pics of the parts that came back... ==================================================================================================== ==== WOO HOO!!! Got my motor home... It should be back on the road in about 3 weeks!!

My painter and me sat down and thought up this for the paint on the inside... Satin black with Flat black axcents to break it up and Flat yellow for the words on the dash Lights, wipers, ---- ...
     Would love to hear what you think of it...

It is Satin black paint from Wal-Mart in the pint cans.. And the flat black paint is from Dollar general rattle can.. This is a Poor budget build.... Most my money went to the motor and drive line... Ill do the body later when I save up the cash... Thanks for the Feedback...

Here she is boys and girls... Took her to cruise night and burned 1/4 tank of gas in 23 miles lol... Had to change a few things on the motor.. The chrome vaulve covers were way to small and my rockers was pushing the sides out ..So we went and got some new ones... The carb I have on it is way to small... Im going to a holley 780 3310-1 carb when it gets here from California state.. It should run alot better.... Cant wait to see what it will do with the bigger carb... And yes we will be putting a hood on it soon lol...
   Here is a pic of what it looked like with the chrome vaulve covers on it that were to small..

Had to change that 650 holley spread-bore carb.. It wasn't working right on my motor.. I got a 780 Holley 3310-1 carb on E-Bay and had it rebuilt... That made a night and day difference on how that truck runs.. Ran the numbers and that motor should be 400+ hp now...
