When I was building conversion vans, I used these when adding power door locks, door speakers, etc. Nice and clean, and no wires! You can get them in 1,2,3,4, or 5 contacts too. Only bad thing is they obviously won't work when the door is open.

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
went through this on my truck, the ones that woodz72 has mentioned probably would work but you would have to cut some kinda of access hole in the kick panel to screw the nut onto the backside of it

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
Well even if you had the doors off you could do it, just cut a hole in the outside of the kick panel, and insert a rubber plug in when you are done.

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
I thought that no matter what you use you still have to drill the inner kick panel right? Aren't there two seperate panels there with a gap between them or am I just goofy??

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
I drilled holes large enough for a small rubber grommets.
I bundled the various wires together (my wiring was for component speakers mounted in the lower part of the doors) & put a piece of heat shrink tubing over the 'bundle'. The heat shrink tubing had to be long enough to go from the interior/cab to the exterior/door. Once heated, I had one solid black bundle of wire that I inserted through the grommets (one grommet in the door jamb; one grommet in the cab jamb; one grommet in the inner cab kick-panel). I made sure to size the heat shrink tubing & the holes in the grommets so that there wouldn't be a bunch of slack after installation. It was tight enough that I needed dishwashing liquid-soap to slide the heat shrink/wire bundles through the 3 grommets. It gives a clean, simple routing that looks like it came from a newer model vehicle & it's pretty cheap to do.

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
Blue
The wire in the pics is for the power door locks/keyless entry/alarm loom. I had to drill a rather sizeable hole for the rubber boot. I think it was 1" or 1 1/4" The only speaker wires we ran is from the 2-4" speakers in the dash. The 6"x9"'s are going to be mounted in the rear corner of the cab where the gas tank was. I am glad you asked for pics I see I need to remove the speaker wire from when they were in the doors. Hope this helps. If you need more, holler. Last edited by chevyboy55; 06-21-2006 at 07:54 PM. |

Can you buy reproduction ones for the mid 80's?

Re: Wiring through door to spkrs, pwr windows..
Subtle, how did you get inside the kick panel to tighten the nut? Also which end did you make slide? I bought a pair of those ones put figured they would be a hassle to install
