supposed to face one way. But you never know if the idiot who had the door panels off before put it back on facing the right way. So try both ways.

Well you could go buy a tool but that'd cost money, not good in my book
Instead i always take a paper clip and straighten it out then bend the very end (about 1/4") and so it has a nice 90 degree hook on the end, slide it in there and pull, works great for me. Good luck------------------ 69 Custom 20, 396BB,Longbed fleetside. New Oak Bed With SS strips... damn nice. Edelbrock performer RPM-O, Edelbrock 750Carb, Headers, HEI, 2 40" glasspacks. Christopher, if using the tool slide it under the handle side. If intalled properly this is the side to push them off from. If using the paperclip to hook onto it, go from the side opposite the handle. Can't count the # of times I've fought with these!

My tool for this is a hook made of an old coat hanger.I flattened the end with a ball peen hammer on the vise and bent a short 90 in it.Cost me less time than going to the parts store and I used the $7.00 for cold ones while I was admiring my work.

I use a rad, just slip it behind the crank, and start sliding it one way then the other...it'll fly out into the driveway, so count on replacing it.
