Maiden Voyage...sort of!

I finally got the Longhorn to the point where I trust it enough to do some serious errands. I met americanrider at the Pull-A-Part in Spanaway...about 50 miles from home...too far to walk home! I did not intend to buy anything but found a perfect tilt, Custom Camper emblem and heater vents. Then at americanrider's got a free tailgate, ac controls and a perfect bed side patch panel (see how nicely it fits in the Longhorn bed!). What a perfect day! Thanks to elkhunter for the great loaner motor...I won't hurt it...really!

The Longhorn has now graduated in status to my parts/work/driver while the ratrod stepside is getting finished. It is nice to move a vehicle to the next level!

Re: Maiden Voyage...sort of!

Mike - Good job. Now that my junkyard has been discovered I will have to find a new one. I love that place. Tilts are practically free.

Good work - Bob

Bob...LOL! There is Pull-A-Part up on Aurora that you have to see. I'm not letting on where mine are! BTW...americanrider (Ben Boone) lives at you JY! I wasn't going to get the tilt until I saw the price!

Dude...that is awsome.
If you have a bumper, then you need to be very carefull on letting your gate hang like that, it will damage the gate.

Andy, I agree but you have not seen this "free" tailgate...LOL! It will need lots of "love" before it is to the point where I will worry about it. I need to install the rest of the latch mechanism as well. americanrider (Ben Boone) helped me put it in so I could drive home and not lose those parts. As you know my "take off" gate is on the wall in my office where it will likely stay!

Met HUCK and his wife this week when they came through town on their way to Alaska. Great guy! We had alot of fun at your expense...JK!

Bob...I guess it is time for the stake-out!

Re: Maiden Voyage...sort of!

Ouch... very ouch.
At my expence... I'm gonna have to go back to his place and pay him a visit for that. In my defence... he came by here at my worst... weeks after being kicked out of the house, right after blowing up my truck, things were pretty bad.
He's a great guy though, no question.
I'm willing to bet your free gate is better than the ones I have to pay for over here. Junk yard gates go for 25 bucks each when you can find them, but they are so rusted the skin is popping off the frame.

Nice parts finds there...I'm looking forward to the day that I can take the time to find some nice solid western parts in some of these hidden away JY's.
