I'm still stuck in silenoid, hell....Mr, WizARD!!!

OK maybe someone has the key to this problem. My starter is a mini one, high torque...don't know what brand. On the back of the silenoid are one spade terminal, and two copper studs with nuts and lock washers. The bottom stud has a wire that goes into the starter. That's the silenoid back. So I cut the (M&H Harness) Purple wire, attached a female spade and plugged it in. Taped the yellow wire back, and ran Battery POS cable to the stud above the one that has the wire going to the starter. Turned the key, NOTHING. Checked HEI cabel and clip, no power there either. So I pulled the spade off the silenoid and ran a small positive wire from the battery to the purple wire just to see what happened and turned the key and the dash brake light goes on and off like it should when start the truck.

Do I need that yellow wire???

So that's what I've done. I'm going to see if a mechanical friend can stop by.
Anyone with idea's???

Alex

You need to figure out which of the terminals on the back of the starter is for the 'ign' wire (purple one I think, check to see if it has 12v on it with the key in 'start) make a jumper wire and jump from the battery pos terminal over to one of the starter studs. The one that makes it spin is the one you want. The other one should send a full 12v to the coil during starting.

OK, power from Batt to top silenoid post and touch the spade and the post together, Engine TURNS over!!!! Now the question is why is the ignition key not doing it? I got no juice at my fuse panel??? Or coming out the purple wire???

Re: I'm still stuck in silenoid, hell....Mr, WizARD!!!

Problem solved!!! I feel like this was a big hurdle for me cause I'm not all that electrical...If I don't have the instructions and since I didn't take it apart.

Anyway Thanks to everyone! Andy you were right purple wire to spade, empty stud takes POS Battery cable. What I was missing was the link from the Positive battery to the block on the Passenger front fender. That's how the juice gets to the fuse panel. Can't tell you how awesome it felt just now to run the jump to that Block and then go to the cab and pull the light switch and the lights go on!!! Next test bump the key and YUPPERS!!!!! She turns over!!!

Thanks Again everyone!!! Now to bleed brakes and complete all the hoses and liquids!!!
