Auto flywheel question

Is a 250 flywheel for an automatic the same as a V8?

Re: Auto flywheel question

Ok, so I was installing a TH350 behind my 230 Inline 6.

I had to remove the old flywheel and use one from a smallblock Chevy (that had the TH350 behind it).

Now, I dunno if the flywheel from a TH350 fits a TH400. All I can tell you is, if you find a truck (in the wrecking yard for example) that has a 400, that flywheel is bond to work no matter what engine application. I think the bolt pattern is the same for most GM engines. The flywheel off that V8 in the yard fits my Early 60's 230.

the flexplates depend on the year ie) 73-84 will fit many 305,350 etc but it depends on the vin number for others a 79-80 vin number with M uses a different flexplate

Mine's a 1970. I'm going to a TH400 from a Saginaw 3 spd. The trans and flexplate came from a 67 but I don't know what engine it had. I know there are 2 different flexplate tooth counts, 153 & 168. Anybody ever made this particular type of swap before? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Stovebolt
