Original or factory color?

Hey guys, I've asked the question on paint and body but still don't know the answer. Hope it's not a problem posting here.
I'm wanting to match the interior color. The truck was originally black and I thought the original interior color was copper.
Now I'm starting to wonder. I took a couple of pictures of the glove box door.
What do you think?
Is this a original color? Where can I match the interior color?

Re: Original or factory color?

Not sure. Look up under the dash behind the black sound barrier. The whole inside should be the same color.

Re: Original or factory color?

It looks to me like there is overspray on the glovebox sticker. If that is the case, a previous owner probably resprayed the interior copper. It is a lot of work, but I had a lime truck that had every part repsrayed cream including the glovebox area, so it happens. If the glovebox sticker is original to your truck (see if VIN matches data plate located in driver side door pillar area) then the inside should be black, not copper. Also, I see the glovebox latch/button is copper colored, and all mine were just plain unpainted metal. I vote that it was painted copper by previous owner, not factory.

Re: Original or factory color?

I think you are right. I got out an inspection mirror and found areas that were black. Whoever did the paint job did it well, I've been fooled for two years. I'm assuming he changed the dash pad and AC vents as well.
Guess the PO didn't like black, in or out.
Can an auto paint shop match the copper?

They should be able to. The paint store could match it.

Re: Original or factory color?

In the 2nd pic you can see overspray in the top left corner of the glove box liner behind where the light would be...

Re: Original or factory color?

Thanks to all. Sadly, the original steering wheel is gone and replaced by a cheap a$$ Grant that I don't like a bit.
I've got a 73 (I think) GMC wheel and button but it's black and I don't think I'll put it on.
I think the copper goes well with the saddle seats and trim and will probably keep the interior scheme the same. Pretty certain I'm going back to black outside.

Re: Original or factory color?

Look in the 1972 paint. You will find the copper color. Yours looks like the factory color was used. Heres a pic of bill72bb's truck. Looks good all copper.

Re: Original or factory color?

I like the copper color. My longhorn is copper. Just not as common as black and a little easier to keep clean

Medium Bronze is a classy color.
