10 bolt or 12 bolt
Hello I might be in the process of purchasing a 1/2 ton, 2 wheel drive, long bed, 76' chevy cheyenne, 350 ci,,th-350 automatic. The trucks drive train has not been changed. I have not been able to view the truck as of yet. My question is,,,, Did these 76' trucks come with 10 and 12 bolts??? or just 12 bolts??? If so what were the available gear ratios for the 1/2 ton 2 wheel drives???? thanks.

Re: 10 bolt or 12 bolt
The truck should have a 12 bolt in it. They did not start 10 bolt rear until around 1981. The most common ratio to have is 3.73's but could come with 3.08 or 4.10 ratios also.

Re: 10 bolt or 12 bolt
Thanks,,, i will assume before seeing the truck that it should have a 12-bolt. i will check the codes and see if it has a lim. slip and hopefully for me,,, a 3.73.
