front axle
I'm thinking about changing my closed knucle axle to an open knuckle. Would the ones off of 73-87 chevys be a direct bolt in? That way my disc brake change would go in at the same time. Jeremy

Re: front axle
Doing this same swap right now on my 70 k20. I am not sure what axle you have under a 62, is that a dana or a napco front axle?
The swap will require new front brake flex lines, new spring plates and u-bolts (if your current axle tube is 2-3/4" and not 3" in diameter. To accomodate the disc. brakes you will also need a new MC, new proportioning valve, and a host of misc. fittings (or all new hard lines) to connect to the proportioning valve. Be prepared, I would say my swap has cost me between $250 and $300 in all the misc. parts and pieces (and thats doing it on the cheap).
