thermostat question

If my temp stays around 190 at idle and floats between around 190-200 when driving I more than likely have a 195 deg termo correct? Dont they only come in 160 180 195? (sending unit in intake by houseing.)

Re: thermostat question

It will get to 180 and stay there while idling after starting up. After I drive for a few mins around town it will sit at 190 at idle. If Im on the frwy doing 70-75mph it will run close to 200. After a normal drive when I shut it off, it will rise to 200-205. When I crank it back up it will immediately go to 185-190.

On my 67 Gmc that I just sold it has a 305 with a 195 stat in it. It will after startup go to around 210 before stat opens up. It will stay at 195-200 after that...

On both trucks the sending unit is on the side of the engine...

Hope this helps...

Re: thermostat question

Thanks yes I was mainly trying to figure out if I had a 180 or 195 deg thermo mine seems more like your 195 but if it sits at idle it will get down to about 190-195
