Re: strange noise while turning
You might check your wheel bearings.

Re: strange noise while turning
Take it in to Les Schawbs or Midas, ask them to check & advise. Ask them to show you exactly what they see wrong and explain in detail why it makes that noise. When they give you a quote for the fix just tell them your broke until payday. Then go buy the parts yourself and fix it. A free professional diagnosis.

Re: strange noise while turning
Could be a worn power steering pump.

Re: strange noise while turning
I've had the lug nut problem before. Its sorta like a mix between a grind and a squeak, jack it up just clear and have somebody hold the brake while you try to roll it front and back, it won't move much mostly you'll just feel it. While its up if you wanna check the ball joints get your buddy to slip something under the tire and lift up and down on the tire while you watch the joints. If they're worn bad you can see it easy enough. If I had to guess though I would first check the power steering pump if it only does it while turning. Then check for a bad wheel bearings.

Re: strange noise while turning
Never could hear bad wheel bearings. The best way to check them is to fell your hubs after a short drive. If they are hot, they are bad. If had them go out on a few different vehicles and never heard it coming.

Re: strange noise while turning
So, was that the problem? Mine (similar sound to yours) seems to be getting worse. I'm thinking it to be ps pump going out.

Re: strange noise while turning
One way to check is just turning while at stand still. This is when the pump is working at it;s hardest, becasue the truck (not moving) does not assist in turning. Understand? It's harder to turn the wheel at standstill. Anyway, if it makes noise then (try turning slowly and listen for noises). I know mine makes the rub noise and that's just the PWR steering pump. Mine is a junkyard part, no naturally it is worn down.
In this case, really the only thing you can do is get another pump or check the fluid level.

Re: strange noise while turning
Last night I coasted with the truck in neutral...no sound. But, as soon as I applied power again, there it was. So at idle, no noise...powered up....big noise. To me it sounds like sheetmetal vibration...but a loose bolt somewhere may sound the same.
