Where to put Overflow Tank ?

I want to get one of those nifty long skinny aluminum Mr Gasket overflow tanks for my ride. Can you guys post pics if you have one of these installed on your truck to give me some ideas cause I cant seem to find a place to place it so it looks and fits properly..

I'm in the same boat here too. I picked one up about a year ago and haven't gotten around to installing it yet and I think its time.

Chrome puke can on the passenger side, 18" finned trans cooler on the drivers side...all tucked behind the grill!

Thanks for the pic but my battery is right where the tank and the fresh air hose is on your truck. I could probably put it on the drivers side of the rad but then I'd have to run long lines..

Looks like you and Chevydude have the answer to my problem. I think I'll get the puke tank powdercoated black so it wont be so noticeable behind the grill. Chevydude where did you get that finned trans cooler from , I think that would work for me too.. Mudder that flat piece of (( aluminum??)) across the top of your rad, did you buy it or make it. I'd like to get that piece for my truck cause it smooths things out so nice under the hood.

Re: Where to put Overflow Tank ?

I got that from LMC. Not sure if the vendor's here on the board have it or not. I wouldn't be hard to make.

Look on Ebay, search 18" finned trans cooler. Some come with hose barb fitting and some don't....just get the dual line version. You can get them in 15" if you want too. Mine is 18" I may have to do some special fitting as I have not put the grill in yet...but I can handle that.

Re: Where to put Overflow Tank ?

Thank you ChevyDude. Gonna get ready and go get it here in a little while. Have been working a ton of overtime this year and haven't really had it out since May. Kids took it one weekend but I haven't had any fun with it.

Re: Where to put Overflow Tank ?

That piece of alum is retangular in shape and has about 3 bends and two holes for mounting. If anyone needs a closer pic just let me know.

Re: Where to put Overflow Tank ?

on your guyes overflow tank looking on summit web site i see on those they have a inlet and outlet... umm how does that work, radiator overflow nipple (by rad cap) goes to inlet and out let is just dumped to the street?
is that correct?

Re: Where to put Overflow Tank ?

The rad flows into the inlet and I believe sucks it back with vacuum as it balances from run to stop. The overflow or outlet is just an overflow outlet for the tank if it was to fill up..it would then dump on the ground.

Thanks < I guess I could mount the tank that way too. Seeing you live so close are you bringing your truck to the Super Run in Red Deer on the August long weekend?
