$280k 67!!
No, I didn't accidently add the zero!
Was at the supermarket loitering around the newstand, catching up on all my reading when I picked up the Dupont Registry to look at all the stuff I could never afford and saw this 67 for sale. Didn't say how much he was asking but did mention it was appraised at the above mentioned price. I recall seeing the truck in numerous publications and it is definately a beauty and very well executed. Here's the web site mentioned in the add with many pics and articles....good stuff! http://www.feslerproductions.com/1967ChevyTruck.htm Hell, with the new "ugly" models and this price, the value of mine just went through the roof....LOL! Re: $280k 67!!
Talked to the owner of a '57 Chev Biscayne BB 502 show car that won street rod of the year a couple of years ago. He had just over $250,000 into it! To go on the "show car circuit" with expectations of winning he said you had to spend that much!
That's why I have a minimalist rat rod '67 truck...total cost...still under $1000!

Awesome truck, but 280K? I really thought there was a typo. For that much money i'd build a custom one for every year!

Re: $280k 67!!
Those kind of $$$ figures for one of these trucks in absolutly insane!...even if you replaced every body panel in the truck (short of the cab) used the aftermarket frame (with custom suspension) and dropped an LS2 into it...your still only talking about..what $50k?
Maybe thier trying to put a value on the fact that people know this truck from the buildup?..but $280?

Re: $280k 67!!
It takes hundreds of hours to make aftermarket panels that straight. They probably also have a couple thousand hours in building that truck to make it look that good. And at $50 per hour, that would be $100K or more. That does not include the laundry list of aftermarket parts that was thrown at it. Just because it was valued at $280k, only means that is what I would insure it at and it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. No need to look down on someone elses ride because they spent more money on their truck than what your house might be worth.

Re: $280k 67!!
No one`s putting anyone down from envy.Hundreds of hours @$50 to get panels straight?Hmmm...I guess a boatload of guys here have done that, too.`Cuz it`s no straighter than the sweet ones on here.I guess if they sold their trucks for $28,000 they`d be cryin`the blues.A truck,in my opinion,is worth every bit as much as any car.I don`t do the "it`s just a truck" thing. That said,no car or truck is worth that kinda money, new exotic or built custom.I`m not saying you can`t spend that much, just not worth it.My conscience wouldn`t let me self indulge to that point, anyway. But,that`s another issue.

Re: $280k 67!!
Even if I was a gazillionaire, I'd NEVER pay more than 100K for a ride. I saw a 69 Cuda in a magazine recently sold for over 300,000...Unreal.

I agree that it is an insane amount of $$, but............ to call it a "simple bag job and some custom work" is an insult to guys who do this kind of "simple" work such as building cutom frames and such. and the $280K was an appraisal was it not?? I dont think that is the asking price for the truck. |

Re: $280k 67!!
Appraisals are lame. You can get just about any "appraisor" to put a number on your ride for the right fee! 280K is seriously CRAZY!

Re: $280k 67!!
I think we can all agree that something is "worth" whatever somebody pays for it. Not everybody has the same concept of money. Being somebody who builds custom rides for people, I know it's all about how much of my time, and how many nice parts they want to pay for to achieve their desired end result. Some people want to pay a lot, and others don't.
There is also a lot of frustration about appraisals and what they mean. In high dollar rides an appraisal is merely a way to protect your investment. Without somebody (a ligit appraisor) assigning a "value" to the vehicle, an insurance company will never stand behind your investment. The appraisal only states value, not how much it's "worth". We have all agreed that what it's "worth" is whatever somebody paid for it. There are very few cars that sell for their appraised value, the majority sell for much less. |
