ralley thoughts

I have ralleys on my truck and they are ok. Was wondering if anyone painted there ralleys to match there paint? Mostly wondering if anyone had any painted white with chrome rings? Just trying to make them stand out more and be different.

Re: ralley thoughts

I've never painted any Ralleys body color , so i can't answer that question , but i have had a set or two powder coated with a little bit of gold tint added to the Ralley silver . People always commented on them being just a little bit different . Oh yeah and i used the factory stainless trim rings .

Re: ralley thoughts

Just to give another idea, I have seen a few sets painted darker silver or medium grey, and they look great. Makes the trim rings and centers stand out more than with the OEM light silver.

Re: ralley thoughts

I have painted several sets......I normally do not like them when they are painted the same color of the truck unless the truck is 2 tone. Too much of one color is not a good thing. The best looking painted ones I have seen or done is semi-gloss black with nice shiny trim rings and center caps.....makes any truck or car look good!!!!! Factory argent silver is always good looking but once in a whille its nice to change up. $4 and 30 min. and you have a new vehicle!!!

Re: ralley thoughts

Mine were black when I bought the truck and I didn't care for it. Painting the wheels back silver was one of the first things I did. But whatever floats your boat man.

Re: ralley thoughts

Mine are powder-coated in Red. My truck will be black, red accents in the interior. With police caps and narrow trim rings, I like it.

I picked up a pair of ralleys like those that were shown in black, then in silver, for $20. They're for my utility trailer. Now, gotta get me some caps and trim rings (wide) to finish them up.

This truck belongs to board member John Fabris. This truck (in my opinion anyhow) is one of the best looking here, right next to see ten's red beauty!

Re: ralley thoughts

I think the 15 x 8 Ralleys are cool looking minus the trim rings. they look deep. I am currently looking for a center cap that will fit though the hole and not cover the lugs. I would love a bullet style cap but I cannot find any big enough. I am going to paint mine gloss black.

Mine is almost the same color as johns pic also two tone. Wonder if anyone can photoshop his pic but replace the blue in rims with white.

Re: ralley thoughts

I had ralleys on my 96 and they looked good painted to body color. Some colors look good, some don't. IMO try it, it can be fixed real easy. Little duplicolor and you'll know which way you want to go.

I plan on painting my ralleys (or spokes, which ever I decide to use) body color on my 70 when she hits the road. Which, BTW, will be same color as my 96 was.

Re: ralley thoughts

Stock colors look good with the silver / grey rally look, but I think
some of the custom colored rides look wild with matching rally's 2.

Re: ralley thoughts

Most people don't run white letter tires and you usually only see them on SUV's and 4x4 trucks, but here's where I'm going with this. White letters look real good with ralley's on a lowered truck and not as good with blackwalls. you would never put white letters on a nice billet wheel......maybe it's just because it gives the truck a more "vintage" look.

Re: ralley thoughts

I get tons of compliments on them. they are GM white with a little pearl clearcoat. Everybody always likes the 12s on the back, always get questions about those.

Re: ralley thoughts

I like the red wheel with white wall rod style. I have ralleys now and I'm not sure if I should shoot them red or get some solid wheels like these:

I think I will shoot mine red because I have them. If I need to get smoothies, I might go with a 17" steel.

Re: ralley thoughts

I dont have any pics to show , but I used Hammertite paint on mine. The wheels are Verdy green(gray/green), & the center caps are painted Hammertight grey & have swept spinners added. I think the combo works out ok, on the cheep. I do like some of the wheels done body color, but agree that it works best on a 2 tone truck. As far as the black wheels, that combo looks nice......but does not show the detail on the ralley wheels L
