89 seat in my 70 - How to recover it ???

Scored a nice seat from a 89 Silverado today to put in the 70, as that seems to be a popular swap. I want to recover it to match the interior, but it looks like the fabric is glued to the foam in the pleat areas. Foam is good and I dont want to wreck it, but the fabric is very dirty and really should be removed - did I just just buy another piece of junk to be added to my "learning experiences" ??????

I have the same seat, mines a 60/40 split and all the upholstery guys I've talked to cringe when I ask about it. You can't take the fabric off without tearing all the foam up.....have to go over the top of it....at least that's what I have been told.

Where in Iowa are you?....I grew up in Council Bluffs.

Unfortunately, that is the case with '88 and '89 'deluxe' seats that were used in the Silverado's and Sierra SLE's. They did last a long time, but are difficult to re-cover.
