spring plate width issues

I have had issues with a replacement axle, I had to purchase new spring plates for the front axle. The spring plate is from an 82 truck, it appears that leaf spring (judging from the witness mark) was about 2-1/2" wide, and the witness marks on my original spring plates put my springs at 2-1/4" Is this 1/4" difference going to be a problem, if so, is there some sort of spacer or collar that I can put over that section of the u-bolt that comes in contact with the spring plate?
I have attached a pic, it might make this a little more clear, my original plate is on the top, and my new plate is on the bottom.....any advice would be appreciated.
