Hey guys. Any help would be appreciated. I'm trying to add a/c to my 72 burb. Small block w/headers. I have all the brackets to mount the compressor to exhaust manifolds but not headers. Who makes a bracket set for this app? Anybody done it? Alternator is on the driver side btw. I took the a/c off my 72 swb so the comp etc. is factory type.

I have a '69 with a small block, and factory air....and Hooker headers and an Edelbrock Performer. All brackets are stock and all components are installed.

Street and Performance in Mena, AR., has all kinds of billet brackets, and I believe Zoops has stuff, too.

Try http://www.alangrovecomponents.com/, they make all sorts of brackets and pulleys.

I had the same question, and most who responded just simply modifiec the A/C bracked to fit over the header. For example, my compressor bracket that bolted to the pass exhaust manifold, I just cut the part that contains the rearmost bolthole out (to clear the header tube) and then made a spacer out of stainless round tubing for the front bolt hole. that was all. I can get pictures if you want to see what I am talking about...

Thanks for the info.That sites cool but their brackets aren't for an original type compressor of which I have three good ones. ChevLoRay, I know that my lower bracket won't work in its current condition am curious what factory brackets you have. I know there seems to be a dozen different configurations that GM used. John, I have emailed you.

Check your local speed shop if you have one. I bought a fabricated rear bracket that works with A-6 compressor for about ten bucks. I think hooker or one of the header co's make them.

Here are two pictures. In the side view, if you see a diagonal cut on the bracket. This removed the second bolt hole.
