how much pinion shim with 6" drop - 68 SWB

I'm running 4" drop springs and I'm ordering 2" drop blocks. Any guesses on how much pinion shim I may need so I can have the right stuff when I'm bolting everything back together?

Are you running leaf, or coil, springs?

ECE sells 6-inch dropped coils that also mean you need to relocate the shock mounts and to replace the track bar with an adjustable one. Leaf springs don't use the track bar.

One option on coil-sprung trucks is the newly available cross member that gives a little more room for the drive shaft to move. Is your driveshaft a one or two-piece unit? 2-piece shafts have more flexibility for dropped rear ends, but can contact the crossmember, in some cases.

As far as how much to shim the rear end on a leaf-sprung vehicle, the fine point, as I understand it, are having the correct angles, both at the tail shaft on the transmission and at the pinion coupling on the rear end. One piece drive shafts may make it more difficult, or not. I have a coil spring truck, with 4-inch drop springs and I've had zero trouble with u-joints, vibrations, etc.

Doesn`t lowering a truck put everything more in-line?
