strange noise
In the last couple of days i've noticed a squeak/squeal (?) when driving. At first I though it may be the ps pump as it occasionally makes some noise. So after opening the hood and listening while revving the motor, no noise. So I drive it again to see if I can narrow i down. It starts at about 15mph and continues until I come to a stop.
So I figure it may be the carrier bearing for the driveshaft. So I place the rear of the truck up on jackstands, start it and place it into drive. As I'm sitting in the cab and revving the engine a bit with the wheels spinning at about 30mph there is no noise... So now I'm thinking it maybe coming from the front-end. Would a front wheel bearing that is going south make a squealing noise? Any help appreciated!

my front end started making noise too...it was the sway bar bushings dry ,
lubed her up...done... i would also would pay very close attention to the u-joints... mark |

Stop after a long drive and grab each hub, check to see if they are warm or hot. That is a good indication if you have wheel bearing going out.

Bearings can squeal when they go bad. They aren't that hard to replace and are cheap too.

Yep, Check front wheel bearings, driveshaft (may olny make noise when under load), rear end grease level (rear wheel bearings are lubed by gear oil), and bushings all around. Typically the seals will go out on the wheel front wheel bearing showing up on the backside of the wheel. The rear end oil being low will cause the wheel bearing to run dry. Good luck.

Yeah I had the same thing happen last fall and it was driving me nuts till i finally checked the brakes. Its always the simple things that give me the most trouble.
