Pics of Test fitting Hood and Grill

Well this is nothing but a beeootch, no wonder why these guys get some much $$$ to make all the lines sweet and even. I had to take a break and take a few pics. It will all come together but it is certainly stressfull at times. I do like the way the silver and red look together though!!!

It is very possible I may have to move the trans cooler, or shave the top fins a hair,,,we'll see I'm not going to worry about it. ya right!

Re: Pics of Test fitting Hood and Grill

It is really looking good. Did you pre-fit all the sheet metal before painting? Are you now replacing them with the same shims, etc after all the pieces were painted?

Looking good! If you aren't careful you may be driving it soon
I think mine is going to be stuck in the garage forever!

Re: Pics of Test fitting Hood and Grill

Yes the old painter pre-fit everything, I remember him doing that. Old painter has been fired. I'll get it the best I can and the "new" painter can dial it in where he thinks he can do better.

Re: Pics of Test fitting Hood and Grill

Thanks again. Have to say this is a very frustrating part of this build for me. I paid a guy to do this (the fired painter/shop) and he for whatever reason failed to complete putting all the pieces on my truck. So I'm guessing with shims and trying to get the lines the best I can. I've got it where the hood closes and opens but I don't like the hood/fender line on the drivers side. My thoughts now are let the professional new Painter/shop "line up" and final install the cowl, hood, grill and inner fenders that are already there.

So I'm thinking bleed the brakes, bend the Lokar linkage into place, drive to exhaust shop for weld up of mufflers and chrome tips and then drive it to new paint shop for final fitment. Anyone have a pic of how you bent a Lokar linkagae rod for a 700r4?

Jeeze....I'm getting close to driving this thing???

Alex

The fired painter did test fitted everything too...in the very beginning...that was when the greenbacks were flowing into his shop from my wallet. After a year of waiting and waiting and no further progress and no return phone calls I had to move on. (This was supposed to be a two week paint up. I thought that was fast and really two months would have been fine.) Had I not taken my truck home it would still be sitting at his shop with him trying to conjure up some reason why I should pay him addition amounts of cash, I fully believe that...although the contract clearly stated the price and what he would do for that price. I paid him in full for the amount stated originally and took my truck home. I was afraid I would never see it again and it would end up in Mexico. So I have moved on....sort of...he still pisses me off!

I have all the gaps very close to where they should be. New painter can do the finishing touches. Brakes, put seats in and drive to muffler/exhaust shop and then on to the new paint shop in Longmont, CO!

Alex

I know "chrome tips" is sometimes a generic term, but be sure you get "stainless" exhaust tips. Chrome rusts & pits badly...stainless lasts!!!

Looking good ChevyDude. I like the paint a lot.
What size are your front tires? I am looking for a smaller tire than what I currently have (it rubs badly) and it looks like you have good clearance. Thanks.

A 700R4 sits just behind the 350 V8.

Yes...rear tires are 275x60x15 on 15x8 rims.

Thanks Larry, Moto, and everyone on the positive comments. My wife says Lil' Red really should be named Lotta' Red....LOL!

Got the grill and bumper on yesterday! Just needs final adjustments,

Alex
