Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
Prestine....all I can say. That`s a hansome truck. So,what`s up with the front hubs?Do non-lock-outs fit under there? That`s the same Barton`s bumper as on my GMC.

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
The truck has automatic hubs under them caps! It's funny to me that they would not put hubs on it. I guess that would be an option.....

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
Wow, I am in love! Is the tank/pump unit still around anywhere? Or was this a utility rig?
I am trying to talk my better half into letting me buy an old American LaFrance to tinker with. Every retired firefighter needs a LaFrance!

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
Sweet truck! It's exactly what I'd like to have, a K20 4 spd, and the firetruck with 11000 miles just makes it that more cool.

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
I'd love to have one that clean.Actually cleaner since I could lose the crybaby doll.Fire and rescue vehicles are great finds since they are usually low milage and have been really well taken care of.
Glock35,I know the feeling.Though I'm not a retired firefighter I did atempt to buy an old Firehouse.I was outbid by a antique dealer. The place was still immaculate and even had the brass pole in it.I would have loved to live there and put the garage area to use as a shop.

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
The stupid doll was moms idea. Don't ask! I love to show it off, but I trailer it everwhere. I don't want to put any more miles on it. I know I'm a FREAK!

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
Very , VERY nice ! As a current professional Firefighter/Captain with 16 years under my belt, I can attest to the typical low milage of fire service utility vehicles. However, we must keep in mind that these rigs are typically "balls to the wall or not at all". It is very rare indeed to find a 30+ year old FD rig that is as nice as yours. As they age they are often used as fleet vehicles or FNG's are allowed to "learn" at the expense of the old workhorses before they wind up in the city auction. I sure wish I had bought our 76 F-350 with 30K on the clock about 10 years ago. It was a nice truck but the plumbing company that bought it beat it to pieces. Nicely done, Dean

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
Well the town of Mt. Vernon Oregon only has like 800 people in and out of town. That is why I think it looks this nice, and because I have told those guys since I was a kid to be nice to my truck. Who would of thought it would be mine.

Re: 1970 Fire Truck Pictures
A childhood dream come true. Can`t ask for more than that. So,is that supposed to be you as a child hiding your wittle fache?
About the hubs:L/Os were an option. The dept. either didn`t want to fork-over for them,or more likely, what for?I don`t think they`d have paid for themselves in 11,000 miles of short runs.If they needed 4wd,they needed it NOW!Lock-outs were to save wear`n`tear, fuel economy, and smoother hiway operation. Not necessary on this truck. I know what you mean...ya freak! With those few miles,it would kill me to add any.(you could cheat and disconnect the speedo)That`s why I like trucks with a Gazillion miles on them,so I can drive`em,fix`em,cuss`em...
