Bed Fuel Fill Install

Went to Pick & Pull yesterday looking for a fuel fill lid assembly that would work and that I liked. It's hard to find something completely flat and to complicate that, I don't have much depth between my bed floor and fuel tank due to the notch in the tank that the bed crossmember fits into. Most lids have too big a hinge system and wouldn't work. Found this on a eary 90's (I think) olds 98. It was almost flat and had a shallow hinge that would work. Also snaged the solenoid and cable assembly so I will have a release in the cab. Install went well with the exception to my crappy welding!!! I do need a welding 101 lesson.

Re: Bed Fuel Fill Install

that's a great idea. the 73-87 trucks with the square door can be made flat with a little easy bending.

Some people are good weldors others(like me) are good grinders. The better your welding skills become the more your grinding skills will suffer.Just one of the facts of life(Bet yer dear ol' Dad didn't tell ya that one during the birds and bees speach, now did he?)
