67 column in 72?
I`m taking the 3spd out of my`72 C/10 and putting an M20 in.I have a floor-shift column from a`67,I think. It`s one piece to the steering box.Can this column work?I`m also changing over to p/s.

Re: 67 column in 72?
I did the reverse. I put a 72 "floor shift" column in my 67. It went right in. This was about 8 years ago, but I think when I installed it my steering wheel was rotated 90 degrees and rather than pull the wheel and reinstall it, I pulled the intermediate shaft out and used the one off my '67.

Re: 67 column in 72?
Thanks,Redneck.I can always try.I guess I could swap the cup, too.I thought I read something about it not working.Maybe it was something to do with tilt columns.I guess as long as I use the complete column, steering box to steering wheel,it`ll work.

Re: 67 column in 72?
There shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't be a direct fit. But remember that they went to the 2 pc column to save lives. The intermediate shaft is meant to crumple in a crash and keep the steering column out of your chest cavity.
When you change over make sure you have the correct rag joint connector at the PS box. They are a different size for manual/power boxes.

Re: 67 column in 72?
That`s the thing. This shaft has one piece inside the other and a pin through it.It does go from wheel to box in one piece, though.I can see the safety concern.Maybe I`ll just swap the upper cup.I traded this column for my 3spd column. But,he just needed a shift lever and I just want to eliminate the mount for the lever.I guess I`ll just do that....Thanks
