Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off-Road has an article in their Aug 02 issue covering rebuilding. They also have alot of trivia and facts and figures.

Have not rebuilt mine, hope I don't have to anytime soon. As far as the Drum Brake Club, go to the general disscussion there's a tread that's titled "Club looking for members" read and reply. Membership is free.

My dad put bearings in his a while back and it was like new again. He said it wasn't a bad job to do either. Wish we still had that truck.

My SM465 has 350k+ miles on it in the Jimmy. Bearings seem fine, but could use a 3rd gear synchro. And gaskets. Man, could it use gaskets! An oil leaking machine if their ever was one! 30 years is definitely the life span on those.
