what do yall think of rhino lining the bumpers?

my bumpers are in great shape structurally except that they're white and really need to be chromed or re-painted. chroming them will run me like $700 which i could not believe so that option is more than likely out the window. soooo i'm thinkin of sanding/grinding them down to the metal and have them lined...this of course would be a temp thing until i can buy some new ones unless they look really good. has anyone done that? does anyone have pics of what black bumpers would look??

I think it would be ok if they were tube or custom bumers, but It might look odd with the stock. It would be different. Could you get the lining color matched to the body color?

Re: what do yall think of rhino lining the bumpers?

i think you'd be better off geting your bumpers powdercoated either white or if they can match the body color

You can buy the repro chrome bumpers for a lot less than that or are you stuck on using your original bumpers?

Re: what do yall think of rhino lining the bumpers?

10 years ago I had a 70' with a double tube rear bumper. I think each tube was around 3.5-4" in Diam. It looked pretty good. The paint was a faided black. A satin black would probably be the ticket.

Sorry no pics.

The last I heard, the price on getting bumpers chromed was closer to $400 around here. Sounds like someone's got the gouge on.

Silver "Chrome" powdercoating looks pretty nice.

Re: what do yall think of rhino lining the bumpers?

If you had the bumpers and the lower part of the body done the same color it might look cool. I have seen some late model trucks that had a factory looking two tone where the lower color and the "Ranch Hand" style bumpers were rhino lined. It looks pretty sharp if your in to that look. If you do it yourself just be sure not to get any on your hootus...

Rhino/LineX, etc tends to fade after a while. I think you are better off painting, powdercoating or replacing your bumpers with reproductions...
