Well a couple of weeks ago I picked up my new (well to me atleast) 65 chevy SWB. I'm pretty sure I got a pretty good deal. Its got a little 283 w/ turbo 350, power drum brakes, column shift, buddy buckets, almost completely rust free, just needs some paint squirted on it. I've already ordered up an old air setup from GMCPaul's. definatly gonna get some power stering for it and disc brakes, but haven't decided where to go from there.... What do y'all think??

Also do you have an idea what the current a/c setup in the truck is worth?? It works ok but not good enough to be my daily driver.

I am not fond of that body style, but man that is one clean looking truck! Congrats on saving a classic to.

Sweet old truck,
Some TLC and it will be like a new penny. Paint will take that truck a long way. I will have to say that you lucked out finding a truck with all the original moldings in tact. I am looking for a set for my son's 64 shortwide. Are you going to paint it back to its original color?

JRB, As far as paint is concerned I really haven't a clue.. I think it was one of your threads that slammed red truck w/ white top that is just killer... and maroon wouldn't be to bad either.. One thing I know for sure is it will have a white top. These trucks just dont look right with out it...

Great looking C-10. Let me know what you would want for the a/c system. I am working on my 66 SWB and would love to have a/c. Putting the under bed tank in this weekend and then replacing the front bed panel and tailgate. I am a couple of months away from paint... but after a year of piddling around with it, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I agree that the paint needs to be two toned. Mine will be the red/white combo when it is finished.

If you like the look of that red/white one (and who doesn't?), I'd go that route. Drop it and throw some bigger wheels on it first, then paint. I say that order because you don't want to be doing all that work around new paint.

Sweet find with the A/C, big window, small block, etc. Are those buckets orig? I've heard about the 67 buckets making into a few 66's but not 65's.

Thanks guys. When I saw this truck I knew I had to have it. It was in my price range and like I said almost no rust. You can see in the corner of one of the pics my rustang project and I knew I didn't want to tak something like that on concurrently. This truck will be my daily driver so I am going to plan my projects accordingly. I'm thinking disc brakes, power steering and a/c first and yes probably cut the dash for a radio. Then maybe a 700r4 and some megasquirted fuel injection, then probably suspension.

Fizzle- I don't think their original, but cool none the less.

Very nice.....Is that 5 lug on all 4 wheels. I'm considering the 6 to 5 or keep the truck original...How well does the power booster work..? I found one in a junk yard and considered puting it on my truck.

Its 6 lug drum brakes at all 4 corners... I think this is an orignal brake booster ar atl east one that was oringaly used for our trucks and is much better then non power... I'm not real sure how to get to disc brakes either go with a 73-87 spindle and an aftermarket 6 lug rotor or do the 73 3/4 ton lower a-arm and the 88+ 3/4 ton 6lug rotor... Haven't decided yet....
