'92 Windshield wiper/>washer< trouble - ideas?
Just arrived in this forum. Looks to be a lot better group than anything else I've seen. I bought a '92 Chev 1-ton, 6.5 TDiesel about 6 months ago. So far all is pretty decent. Moved into very dry, dusty hot climate (Eastern Washington state). Yesterday in rain shower I turned on wipers and washers. Washers no longer work; wipers only shut off when they felt like it. Trying wipers since shows: they always come on, but seldom turn off and they park where they darned well feel like it. A few times I only got them to turn off when I killed the ignition switch at the moment they hit park position.
I searched the archives on this forum and see that the circuit boards inside the wiper motor are a weak point for these wipers. I also see my '92 probably does not fall under the recall list. My question is: is washer failure also associated with crazy wiper behavior? Any other suggestions other than pull the circuit board and re-solder or replace? Thanks very much, Dennis |
