jimmy's project 68
Hi Everyone. This is my first attempt at building a truck so I will be asking alot of questions. I plan on doing it all myself with a little help from friends. I picked it up 2 weeks ago and as you can see it needs alot of work but I believe it is a good starting point. The original motor and tranny in it are shot. No need to worry though I already have the replacements waiting to go in. I will be posting pics and progress reports as I go.

I have 6 months left here in Maryland then I will be back in my house in Fla. where I have a garage. Then you will see alot of progress quickly I hope. Going to stuff a 400 HP plus 350 with a new TH400 next week at the auto hobby shop I have to work at.

Re: jimmy's project 68
Nice truck! Looks pretty solid for a Maryland truck. I see the P.O. installed '72 style inner door panels. Good luck with your project and have fun.

Re: jimmy's project 68
Petty much leave the body stock. Going to shave the drip rails and put mini tubs in the bed. Been thinking of a 4 inch cowl hood but I think it would be a better sleeper with a stock hood. Plenty of room to hide stuff under there.

Re: jimmy's project 68
I think it was originally a South Carolina truck. I bought it in Virginia.

That's my grandson. 15 months old and loves anything with a steering wheel. Maybe one day it will be his.

Re: jimmy's project 68
Well I was hoping to get my new intake before this weekend but it did not come. So I just started pulling what I could out of the engine bay to just make it quicker to get the old motor out. Things go slow when you have no garage. I will have some pics of the new power going in it tomorrow. Can't wait to here it run. This site has given me the motivation I need.

Welcome - looks like a great start to a project from here
Before stuffing those ponies under the hood, be sure to go through the brakes/brakelines/fuel lines, etc. |

Re: jimmy's project 68
Still no intake. Went to work on motor anyway and get that much farther ahead and then setback. Realized I didn't install timing pointer. Not a problem I bought a new one. Went to put it on and realized it was for a seven inch balancer and I have an 8. Another part on order No one around here carries one for an 8 incher. No tailgate special-k, you have one laying around? Thanks joe67!!. I found a worn brake line just were it goes over the frame. It looks like the last PO hit it with something. Time to make a list and follow it.
