What's wrong with my door locks?
the locks will work fine when the door is open but when the door is closed the lock will not move up and down, they get blocked or something...
Any one know what might be wrong? |

Re: What's wrong with my door locks?
On my 72 Blazer. the passenger door does the same thing. I have to push the door in and turn the key or pull on the door handle from the inside and push it down to get it to lock. Check your doors alignment and possibly adjust the striker plate.

Have you put new weatherstripping on lately?
When they are closed try pushing on the door when you turn the key.

Re: What's wrong with my door locks?
It's a door alignment issue.
Loosen the hinge bolts slightly and try adjusting the door. That should solve your problem.

Re: What's wrong with my door locks?
I think the problem is usually the door latch mechanism is worn. When the main latch gets worn, the roller gear turns too far to let the manual lock engage without pushing in on the door. Maybe new repro latches would fix it, I just push in on the door.

Re: What's wrong with my door locks?
I had to push on the door as well before I adjusted the alignment of the door.
Try adjusting the striker plate 1st,that's easier than adjusting at the hinges. If that doesn't work move on to to the hinges.
