Well, my buddy Mike and I finally got the windows installed tonight....what a pain! All of them went pretty well except when I got to the windshield, thing liked to never set in. I pounded and pounded to get the rubber to set in the channel. I had even lubed it up well beforehand, took almost 45 minutes, hands feel bruised

. Both side windows roll up and down great with all new felt and channels, I got the scrapers with the chrome strip.

I had also painted the E-Brake and installed that today as well. Now all I have to do is have the door strikers chromed (or find some that are already done) so I can finish with the latches.

Hey that looks great. Why did you install know instead of painting the cab complete with no weatherstrips installed so you will not have a potential peeling problem there?

I am going to have to drive it for a while after it is on the road before paint. I currently do not have a paint booth lined up and the nearest one is about 45 minutes away at $125 per day. There is no way I can shoot the whole thing in the garage, it is attached and the fumes go right into the house if it is a big area to be painted. If you notice, I painted around the outside of all the window openings. There is a trick my Dad taught me years ago to prevent peeling of paint lines.

When I get ready to paint, I will use a thick nylon twine in the lip of the rubber to make it stick out, that way when it gets shot the paint and clear will be able to get under the rubber and not have a paint line. Then pull out the twine and you're done. The rear window is the only one I will have to worry about, the side frames and front are already completely painted so I'll just tape those up.

I know it is not the "right" way to do it, but it will work just as well if you cannot paint the whole thing at once. All of the bodywork is finished on the cab minus the hood and cowl, I just need to block out the bed. The inside of the bed will eventually get swapped out for a wood bed.

Well, progress is slow these days... I played around with several ideas with the gauge cluster and decided (for now) to go with silver faced gauges. As soon as my factory style tach is in I'll go ahead and start wiring everything up (kinda want to at least finish the gauges first). Hopefully it will be in by months end. I also have to paint the black portion of the bezel orange to match the truck.

EDIT: I know the silver ring is a bit off from the gauge face, I will be going to the paint store tomorrow and have them match it for me.

You should've said you were doing silver gauges when you got the bezel and lens from me. I have some of the silver paint already custom matched. So if you need to paint one and send it to you if the paint store is not cost effective LMK...Randy

Too funny...I did not know I was going with silver until I already received them from you. I was thinking of white, but too many people do white and I wanted to be a bit different.

I'll let you know if the paint store cannot match the silver. I have gotten all of my paint there for my truck at cost, so I don't think price will be an issue.

Well, here is another minor update. I got my bezel painted to match my truach and installed my silver faced gauges including my new tach. I want to throw out a big THANKS to Randy (Byrd) for all of his help with the parts to do this.

Hey, I just noticed that my wiper and light switch knobs have a groove in them so I filled it with tangelo as well (the groove). But I noticed that my lighter knob does not have this groove. Did they also come with a groove in them, were they all solid with no groove or do I have an aftermarkt piece?
