ARGH The Differences!
So I just spent about an hour looking for a website that I found about 4 months ago. I had bookmarked the website but couldnt find the bookmark in my browser. I just checked again and there it was....grrrr. Although most of you are probably aware of the changes between the years I thought for those of you that didn't know this would help. grr 1 hour looking for this thing and it was right there the whole time. http://www.pattson.com/maych/67_72_chevy.htm

I sent the owner of the site an email to see if we could copy that to our FAQ. And to invite him to join over here (if he hasn't already.)

Re: ARGH The Differences!
I just checked the GMC link and immediately found two incorrect statements:
1)`67 and`68 have the lettering in different locations.Maybe he just didn`t mention it,but still misleading. 2)But more so...in`67 the front narrow eyebrow trim was not offered. That started in`68.The top-of-the-line "Customs" with the unique verticle fender badge and chrome grille did not come with any surround moulding at all. Looked a little more...He`s talking about engines in 67/68 and doesn`t mention V6s.He says the I-6 250 and V8 283 are standard with the 292 and 327 as optional. Was upper and lower side trim available in`68???I can`t take anymore. If you`re gonna be an authority, get it right!(this is BO...GUS!!)Look at the hubcaps and mirrors on the`68.This guy has some learnin`to do. Hey,I just think accuracey is important here,if anywhere.

Re: ARGH The Differences!
Incorrect information or not you have to give the guy credit for a great site. Maybe I can get my intraweb thingy savvy buddy to create a build site for me.

Re: ARGH The Differences!
I think it`s a nice looking site and a great effort.I admit I posted the thing about the Grille differences when I had only seen the upper description of differences and saw the mis-information about`67 eyebrow trim.I just think since the purpose of the site is info,it should be correct.I`d be more than willing to help there and sure others would, too.I would never get what he did done,so kudos on effort.

Re: ARGH The Differences!
SpecialK, I picked up a project 3 weeks ago, I was wondering how true these statements are.
Its a 67 wide window, 396BB, automatic, shortwide, A/C, power steering, Power Brakes, tilt wheel. Can this be original? I was questioning looking at this website, but understand the options, but how rare is this truck? Its been converted to front disc already, and the 396 is not there, everything is in a box with many new parts. Price was good and I love these trucks. I can't afford stock, but really hate to ruin a rare classic. Please let me know. Thanks Marty |

Re: ARGH The Differences!
I think 69 was the first yr for tilt steering.

Re: ARGH The Differences!
Marty, sounds like you have a great truck to build.Like the post before me says,it`s not all original. So,do what you want. It`s cool you had the regard to want to leave it original if it was a rare original. The guy that told you these things were original may very well believe what he said is true. That`s my point.I don`t mean to come off as a know-it-all,believe me I`m not.I`m as ready to learn as the next guy and have learned things here that I thought were different for several years based on mis-information.There is so much to know about these trucks and not everyone gives a s--t.But,I think it`s important that we,here, strive to be the place to go for authoritive/correct info on these trucks.

great site there. hope he joins up. i was just wondering. was 67 the only year that the small back window was offered? i was at a show not long ago. and i seen a 71 with a small back window. the rear view mirror was bolted rather than glued.... but they didnt glue them on the windshield till 72 right? i talked to the owner , and he said it was all original... i was thinking he just added a 71 dog house to it ....am i right??????????

Re: ARGH The Differences!
67 is the only year for the small window, yes. That guy either put a 67 cab on his 71, or put a 71 front clip on a 67 truck... and i hope he added rear markers too, otherwise it'd look stupid.
That guy is a member, but I haven't seen him around in years. |

Re: ARGH The Differences!
Couple things on the GMC
He didn't mention the painted top bar on the 67-68 grills He didn't mention the cutouts on the front bumper for 69-72 (not there on the 67-68) He didn't mention the smaller GMC letters on the tailgates of the 67-68 Other than those he did a good job, I know I couldn't have done better, Rg
