Rear parking brake cable connection at drum?

I found the cable just hanging inside the drum area not connected to anything. I cannot figure out where it connects. I looked at the LMC catalog and it looks like I have all the parts in there. I searched the board and I found a thread that said it connected to a lever, but that's all I could find. I only have one side of the parking cable setup. The rear cable is missing completly on the other side. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had to salvage them from my '67 axle for my project truck.

napa carries them along with adjusters and springs as a kit. I went to napa online and and ordered one for each side. Cost- $ 16 per side. ...David

I could only find the self adjuster kit from Napa.

Anyone have a part # for that stupid lever? Also, I would like to clarify if that lever is seperate from the self adjuster lever. Napa says the lever in the self adjuster is what I need. I don't think that is right, because the above diagram from LMC shows it to be a different lever. Thanks for all the help!

I have talked to 3 different Napa stores and they all say I need the self adjuster kit. The self adjuster has nothing to do with the parking brake lever. You can't physically connect the parking brake cable to the self adjuster lever anyway's. I told the Napa guy that and he said yes it connects at the bottom. I was like oh really, thats funny because the self adjuster screw is turned by the bottom of that lever and there is no way that would work. He said try it and I bet you it will work, LOL. I even faxed them the above diagram with the arrows pointing to what I need. He still insisted, but obvisouly had no idea what he was talking about.

Napa used to be good, 3 weeks ago I went in and asked for a rear wheel cylinder, the 19yr old kid looked at the other guy and asked "Wheel cylinder??? What section is that under? ARGH! Brakes stooooopid! I also need the cable and the little bracket the cable connects to. I might have to hit the junkyard, pm me if you need a pic of the little brackets/metal the cable connects to from the drum.

I have to agree with mbg mike cause these guys who work at the parts stores see hundreds of people with hundreds of different kinds of vehicles and thousands of different parts. They can't possibly be expected to know how each and every one works. If they did they'd be master mechanics working in their own garage. The older guys have been around longer and know a little more about our trucks but they're still having to deal with hundreds of different parts all the time.
Put yourself in their place and picture all the people that come in looking for stuff they know nothing about and getting frustrated when the counter guy can't help them. It's not just a one way street . VV

Good point, but they could have said, I just don't know. Hell no, he was Mr. know it all and insisted I try to use the self adjuster lever for the parking brake lever. I don't care what the situation is, if you don't know what your talking about, just stfu.

Uhh remind me not to wait on '68 if I went to work at a parts store. I am 71 years "young" and have worked on cars since my 1st at 16 (1936 Ford 2dr. sedan) and I still run across parts that I have never seen from some other make. Everyone has to learn and you NEVER learn it all. (no put down intended to anyone).

Heres a pic I found of the rear brake. You can see the e brake cable on the bottom, the lever on the right and you will also need that bar across the top. that is what actuates the pb. It is hard to see in the pic but there is a spring on the front (left side) of the upper bar. Hope this helps with the assembly.
