350 timing ?
i have a new chevy crate 350 290hp edebrock eps intake and holly 600 what should the timing be set at i have been told every thing from 4 t0 14 btdc with a hei dis
please help thanks

Have you asked the dealer/manufacturer?
If that's not an option, you may need to simply look at the timing curve and go from there. Set your total initial and mechanical advance to about 34* BTDC and see where the initial timing falls. Then listen for pinging under load at different RPMs up to at least the RPM that you achieve max timing from your mechanical advance. If nothing is heard, increase the timing by a couple degrees and try again. When you find the ping, back off until it goes away. The next thing to do is recurve the distributor to your liking. You can adjust the mechanical advance to work with the initial to give you the right balance. Add initial, remove mechanical and vice versa. You can also adjust how quickly the mechanical timing comes in. Quicker is generally better for performance, but you've gotta pay attention to when the motor wants to ping. Hope that helps!
