Tires for a k-20 with 4" lift??

I just got a 70 K-20 to use as a dailly driver and it has a 4" lift, right now it has 255 x 85 x 16s which I believe is about 33" tall.
I'm not up on all the metric sizes and that seems to be what the local tire stores have in stock, what are you guys running that are between 33" and 35" tall?
Any pics would be great.

Re: Tires for a k-20 with 4" lift??

Almost all tires I have seen jump from 33's to 35's. If you have ever measured a 35 inch tire, or a 33 inch tire are not a true 33 or 35 inches tall. Most 35's run about 34. Some of it also depends on the width of the rims.

255/85s are a notch taller than 7.50x16s(235/85s).A 285/75 is about 1/2" shorter and 1-2" wider than a 255/85.Here are 285s:

Re: Tires for a k-20 with 4" lift??

It has 255s on it now, I was wanting to go with a 315 which should be about 35" tall. Just dont know for sure how well they will fit, I have a chance to run some 305s on a trial bassis. Its just hard to get a mental picture of how big these metric sizes are but it seems like most of the stores are stocking these now.
Are those 285s pictured on the red and white truck?

The 305/75s are 12.50/33s,the 315/75s are 12.50/35.I think they`ll fit with 8" wheels and not rub.

Re: Tires for a k-20 with 4" lift??

I ran my K20 with 265/16's and they were just about right IMO.
Although that truck only had a 2" lift but you can get the idea.
They were BFG K.O.'s and had great road manners and good wear.

The 285's on my 01 measure 32" tall.

33's for a daily driver is as big as I'd go myself.

Sorry, been awhile.Yes,those are 285/75s & 4" lift on the red`n`white truck. For comparison, the blue`n`white one has the same size and about 2" of lift. They rub some, but shocks and springs are shot(incl.broken leafs and even a couple 1/2s missing on the rear)and those are SuperSwampers...big side lugs.
So,what did you do?You could go with 315/85s (12.50/35s) with 8" rims and mild flexing. When I bought my CheyenneSuper it had 2" lift with that combo, careful street-use only.Like any slightly too big for lift tire on these trucks, you had to watch turning in and going up at the same time.Sure looks best, though.
