It lives again!!! (vid inside)

Finally got the new cam/lifters/springs in the truck this past weekend and spent the evenings this week fine tuning the spark curve and carb. Hopefully I don't have another lobe/lifter failure for a loooooong time......in-truck cam swaps suck, especially when you're doing it in the driveway in 100 degree weather. Break in went very well and the truck is running great! I will say that even though I expected some valvetrain noise from comp's xtreme line, it seriously sounds like a solid lifter motor now. Nothing I can't get used to though. Here's a quick clip of how she sounds......between this thing and the camaro, my neighbors probably hate me.

OOh yeah thats sweet sweet music. I bet the ricers pee their pants when you pull up on them at the stop light/stop signs. How much compression are you running with that combo? Is it a edelbrock performer carb, and if so what size is it? Man thats nice, enjoy.

Awesome. That sounds great. Congrats. Nothing sounds better to me than a camed up V-8. Is that the XM270? I know that marine cams are a liitle more agressive.

Re: It lives again!!! (vid inside)

Thanks guys! Compression is around 9:1, carb is a 1405 edelbrock performer 600cfm.

Nolowrider: Yes, it's the xm270h. Specs are 226/236 .480/.489 112 lsa. I did a lot of talking on the phone with comp about cam specs and this one was perfect for my setup. The higher lsa keeps cylinder pressure up with my lower compression. It builds tons of down-low torque and pulls hard all the way past 6k rpm. It even idles a little smoother than I thought it would. The ramp rates are fairly aggressive and make more noise than any other hydraulic cam I've heard, but I'm growing to like the sound! It really sounds badass in person, the vid doesn't do it justice!

Re: It lives again!!! (vid inside)

That canm really sounds great. It must sound bad azz in person because the vid sounds awesome. Congrats on your work. I went with the Comp XE line, happy so far. No noise. As far as the "one tire fryer" syndrome, take a good look at the "lock-rite" setup. I have it and it works great, at a fraction of the cost. Easy to install (1hr) and if I can do it, anyone can. Highly reccomended.

Sounds great!

Ditto on what Bane asked. What's your exhaust set-up?

Thanks for the compliments! Exhaust systems is ceramic coated hooker longtubes, flowmaster 3"->2.5" smooth reducer cones, 2.5" dual exhaust (no crossover) and 40 series flowmasters. Compression is around 9:1.
