power brake booster for 72 chevy pick up

Hi guys. I´m working on my new 72 chevy truck, want to install a brake booster. Problem is, on my firewall there are 4 bolts coming out into the engine comp. and the boosters I can get here, also has bolts on it... What I need, I think, is a booster with some sort of mount that will attach on the bolts. Anyone done that little trick? And where do I get that booster?

You need the bracket that goes on the firewall and the 4 bolts sticking out. The bracket also holds the rod coming through the and provides leverage as it presses into the booster. The booster bolts into the other side of this bracket. Try the parts board...but you will have to be a subscriber to ask for the part!

The bracket is separate from the booster. The bolts on the booster are for the bracket. Then the bracket bolts to the firewall. The bracket allows for the linkage to have room to operate. (I hope that makes sense )

I got my booster outa junked '72. Figured the brackets etc. were worth it even if it doesn't work and need a core for a rebuilt.

Used boosters are a bad idea...esp the 3/4 ton and one ton daul diaphram units. I actually lost an engine to one.
Had engine running, it was a little lean, was waiting on a jet assortment kit, and one of the diaphrams popped while i was spinning 4 grand on the freeway.
BOOM
Found piston chunks in the oil filter.

That pretty much sucks.

Have not yet installed mine, and if it dont work, its a core.
$25 for a core charge, and no brackets etc.
$25 for used with brackets etc.

in the end, its a wash, with brackets.

Re: power brake booster for 72 chevy pick up

Hi Guys!

Thanks for all the help. I´ve just ordered a brake booster kit from classic performance products, it has the bracket, the vacuum part and the master cylinder, so should be possible to fit on my truck...
By the way, I´m going to LA in september, anybody knows of some good parts shops or whatever in that area?
