1970 heavy 1/2 ton
hey, guys i'm new here but i got a ? i have a 1970 2wd 1/2 ton with rear leaf springs and it all stock. in the glove department it says heavy duty rear suspention and heavy duty front suspention. when i was ordering bushings from energy suspention the dude said thats impossiable. and the rear leaf springs are the same a 4x4. so does any one have something like this, it has a 250 inline 6, 3 on the tree, and a 12 non-posi rear end.
thanks guys, darin _________________________ 70' c10 |

Re: 1970 heavy 1/2 ton
The leaf springs were standard on GMC and an option on chevy. The reverse is also true.Heavy duty is in relation to the capacity of the springs. The powertrain you have was base in all light trucks. There was a time(early to mid 80's I believe) when Chevy made a "Heavy Half"that was rated at 5/8 ton.If you can't figure it out to get them from Energy try one of the BB vendors since they can probably get your parts right the first time.

Re: 1970 heavy 1/2 ton
from what ive been told i prob. have a HD 1/2 ton with coil. my drums are the bigger verision of the drums put on this truck.....i.e. the reason my 14x15 rims dont fit over the drums.

technicly, there is no HD 1/2 ton.
There were plenty made with leafs, and heavy springs. |
