Well, it's sorta gone. One day and a woo as we say in the military. Anyways, Kids start school this week here and it gets hectic again. Friday I set up and welded up my homemade exhaust out of what was left over from the parts truck. I had some silver/chrome exhaust paint left over, so I made them look good, well at least until I fire it up. But then it'll be hiden from everyone. It's gonna be loud with those Flowmaster 40s and dumps right behind the cab. Oh well, it is a hot rod truck of sorts.

I also stripped most of the passenger door and cleaned up the the windshield area. Hopefully I'll get to shoot some primer and the interrrior color before too long.

Saturday the wife, son and I went to Floribama (Orange Beach Border of Florida/Alabama) and spent the day with my brother-in-laws family. Tioday was dodging rain to get the thousaand little chores done and get things ready to drive my daughter back to her school campus Wednesday.

So how about you folks??

Worked on the 72 for a little bit replacing the door actuators in both doors and working on taking out the window regulators on both doors and replacing them in my new 72 cheyenne swb. Went to car show and just got back to the house when we noticed someone broke in to my truck at the Reliant Stadium in Houston and stole the girlfriends Coach purse out of the truck, pryed my door and damaged my door handle. FREAKING thieves!!!!!! I am pissed. Thousand dollars worth of purses in the truck and damage is under deductible on the truck. What a sunday.....

My son(longnlow72) & I got the frame,firewall,heater box,brake booster,master cylinder etc. painted & the stock manifold off & will put the new Permastar manifold on tommrow & get the engine set back in.

Put brakes & shocks on myF@*d daily driver. Getting ready to make the trip to Pensacola in about 3 weeks. Taking my daughter to school there. We'll be empty nesters soon. Any good salvage yards down that way? Man, it is hot, and supposed to be hotter on Mon. & Tues.

Well....... I started off by touching up on the 454/TH400 install. I hooked up new fuel lines as well as new fuel pump, filter etc... Installed the new 4 core radiator and put the cherry used core support on top of the new Classic Chevy supplied core support bushings. ( The bushings used an odd size nut on the bottom. Bigger than 11/16ths' but smaller than 3/4ths ! WTF !!! ) Wired up a lot of the electronics with the help of a good friend , poured fuel in the tank, poured a little in the carb and lit the match. This little rat motor came to life immediately. It sounded pretty solid for an engine that's been sitting for 15 years !

Then I remounted all of the front tin including a new right side inner fender, battery box etc... Put the nice used grille on it and measured up the driveshaft for it's coming modifications. I put the 88 up seats in it for a test fit and they work super !

As I was sweeping up the shop I decided it was time to christen my project by loading my first rig on it. So.... I went to my trusty 1979 F-159 Indy 500 truck , lined it up to the ramps and drove it up on the bed. The hauler didn't even grunt with about 5,000 pounds of pickup on her back.

NOW , with respect to the Ford. I can hear some of the comments already. Please keep in mind that I own a lot more blue ovals ( 6 ) than I own bowties ( 3 ) . I've got a very stout 429 Interceptor motor laying in the corner and this little rig almost wound up Ford powered. If I hadn't acquired the rat motor at a bargain, it would have been Lima motor and C-6 to go.

Other than these few little things, I didn't do anything

I had a fun weekend of installing "bling." The weather wasn't very cooperative so I didn't get much done on the fenders or steps. Maybe next weekend?

Finished stripping the 72 frame for the suspension, to begin sorta the 67 project called "Frank" I will be getting the 67 out of the barn this week and begining the tear down to see what I have to work with.Got the small window cab I got from billsbotie stripped and ready to go to the sandblaster for blasting and primer. A fellow member 454_72_4x4 came in from Mo to pick up the cab from project afterburn on Saturday, Tracey it was nice to meet you,hope you had a safe trip home. Also today got to meet another member 72str8flush to pick up a idiot light dash I restored and sold him on Ebay, John it was nice to meet you and hope you have a safe trip home!! 1 more post to reach 1000

What school is your daughter going to? UWF? PJC? As for JY, there are a couple of descent ones. Butler's U-Pull it and Kikers U-Pull it. You never know what you're going to find. I got lucky one day and scored a tilt out of 72 longbed

. Anything in particular that you need? I know BowTieOgre and some more guys down here who have a quite a few parts.

I work 2 weekends every month. I get one 2.5 day weekend and one 8 day weekend every month.

But it takes the entire week to catch up on all the chores, so sometimes I think it's a wash.

Not much on the 68. I did manage to finish the 3rd brake light. Got the mud sanded and several layers of high-fill primer on. Still need to block it out, but it turned out pretty good!

I picked up my new truck on Saturday, a 2002 GMC 1500HD CC/SB 4x4. Installed the brake controller, cleaned out the box of junk I took out of the old truck, and put what I wanted to keep back in the new one. Gonna go get new tires in a few hours.

Progress on the '70 continues at a snails pace. I got a friend to help me flip the frame over so I could pressure wash and wire brush the bottom and I bought some chassis paint to put on when its completly dry. Next step is to snag the control arms off my donor chassis and clean those up this week.

With fellas like HartRod slinking around the yards down here are either picked clean or rusty as hell, but there is one yard i dont think either of us have tried thats about a 40 minute drive north...maybe we could all hit that one up when you come down.

I drove to Texas from MN in mid July to pick up my '71 stepside from my dad. I was home on the 20th of July.

I went to the Car Craft show in Minneapolis and picked up some Torq Thrust II 17" rims for the new (old) truck.

On the following week (24th of July), I ordered my GM crate engine, bumpers, grill, steering column, steering gear box, transmission, etc. I received everything except for the transmission, cross member, wiring harness, and dual electric puller fans with shroud.

I pulled the engine/trans out on the 25th of July.

On the 28th, I brought home the new engine.

Manual trans cross member was removed on Saturday the 29th.

I decided to pull the radiator core support out for easier install of the new engine and tranny.

Yesterday I pulled out the steering column and steering gear box.

Today, my transmission should show up on the truck. I want to put the new steering column and gear box in tonight if the 100 degree heat doesn't kill me first.
My garage is packed with parts and tools all over the place, can't wait to clean it up.

My goal is to get it running this weekend of mid next week. I will be in Vegas from the 6-9th for work. I have a verbal agreement with the body shop guy to bring the truck in at the end of August or 1st of Sept. for a paint job (same color). I need a couple weeks to get the engine in, new chrome on (bumpers, grill, etc), make sure the lights work, and to get the exhaust done professionally. It will be busy but I'm having a blast doing it.

Other than that, just working...
