quick heater hose question

i was replacing my heater hoses and the peice to my heater box that lets you connect the uper heater box hose broke. can i just route the heater hose from the water pump to the manifold? isnt that where the coolant ends up going anyway??

Yep, just bypass the heater core for now if you need your truck for transportation.
