Side Windows

Any kind soul(s) out there willing to talk me through the re-assembly of the side and vent windows? I took them apart and don't remember how they go together. Imagine that.
Also, the windows have a metal piece at the bottom. Looks like there's a rubber insulation piece in there. Is it just some rubber caulk stuff, or is it a rubber insulation piece?
Thanks

The rubber strip that holds the glass in the regulator is available at GM dealers. I can't remember for the life of me what its called, but its available in two kinds, a thin version and a thick version. I can't remember what I used, but bought both since they were really cheap. Its available by the foot.

Here's some info from another member on installing vent window.

Quote:
Putting the vent windows in is a lot tougher unless you know what to do. Put the main window back in and roll it all the way down. The rear track that guides the main window must be unscrewed. You will find two screws holding the bottom part in and one screw at the top backside of the door. Move the rear track and window as far back as you can. This gives ample clearance for getting the vent in position. Believe me if you don't loosen that rear track you will have a lot of wrestling to do.

The metal piece that the side window is mounted in is called a window sash and the rubber is called sash rubber. I just did my windows and the trick is to stretch the rubber on the glass then press the sash over the rubber after you let go the rubber will expand and hold the glass to the sash. On your vent windows buy the rebuild kit and the rivet tool

Thanks guys.
What's a vent window repair kit? Sounds like a bunch of rivets, but where do they go?

I'll tell you - but you have to tell me what a vent window rebuild kit is first.

While we're on the subject, once again does anyone have a nice clear picture of a one piece glass assembly? And those who have them would you venture an opinion? I'd like to hear from people who have some experience with them.
