NEED HELP.... FAST!!! (ENGINE SWAP ???'s)
I have an opportunity to get me a LT1 from a 95 impala and i want to put it in my 84 chevy swb. The only thing is that I dont really know if it will fit or what I have to do to make the conversion. Truck currently has a stock 305 in it so maybe that will help some of you that have more of a mechanical brain than me. Help me figure this thing out cause i dont want to lose that motor to someone else. Any help would be appreciated.

I would do a search. It has been covered pretty well in the past. I don't know details. I'm still stuck in the 80s.

The motor inself will bolt right in just like your 305. BUT you will need a ecm and wireing harness for the motor, and also don't forget that these engines have a reverse flow cooling system. It would be a nice engine in one of these trucks. |

thanks bigchevyman, The motor will come with the computer and everything else from top to bottom but dont know if it will come with the harness. Wouldnt the reverse flow cooling system be already in it if its all complete? |

Re: NEED HELP.... FAST!!! (ENGINE SWAP ???'s)
GET THE HARNESS WITH THE MOTOR!! Along with the computer and the radiator. You really don't want to skip the harness, it could cost you from $400-900 for a stand alone harness. Pulling the wires you don't want out is much easier than buying a computer AND a harness for it. Plus the weatherpack plugs are EXPENSIVE!
If it were me, I would get from the radiator to the driveshaft and I would get the manifolds down to the Cats. AND I would get EVERYTHING the harness connects to for the engine. Anything you don't use LABEL it.

You will need to move the right side engine mount back on the frame, and notch that side if you are going to use the A/C compressor. I would suggest using the fuel tank out of an '87, as it will have the baffles for EFI.
