The title says it all.

Re: What's a Driveshaft for TH400 in a SWB cost?

if i had the stock drive-shaft, i would just put the turbo-400 yoke on it.
salvage yard parts. cheap.
if stock drive shaft is too long now? have drive-line shop cut it and add
proper front yoke. they balance it too,

p.s if i ever sound condescending in my posts just blame all the good sleep i get
and quality coffee i drink. i never mean to talk outside of what i know.

i like this web site.

life is good.

I really want a one piece, and evidently this tranny is the HD version with the bolt on yoke. Have to do some checking on that.

It can be converted to a slip yoke style. Otherwise, You'll need a 2 piece shaft. It's gotta be able to slip somewhere.

That's what I figured. I wonder if I can just take the bolt out of the yoke that's on there and let it slip a little?

Krue,
You won't be able to use your bolt on yoke without the bolt because it will leak unless you plug it somehow, but you can use a regular slip yoke in it's place. Also there's an o-ring up inside on the output shaft you will have to remove to allow it to slip. You could possibly shorten your existing driveshaft depending on it's construction, I have done this a few times.Take it to a driveshaft shop and let them check to see if they can do it.

Re: What's a Driveshaft for TH400 in a SWB cost?

The slip yoke I have is way too small to work with the tranny out put on the 400 I have, do they make a slip yoke to fit it?

Yes they do. I've got a long slip yoke if you need one, cut it to length!

I used the back half of the driveline out of a 78 chev 3/4ton crew cab. It was 3/4" too long, had it shortened, but I may also have my engine mounted further back then you do.
