Drip Rails
I have a 71 C-10 LWB and fixin to try to completely redo the truck. When it rains it leaks from the drip rail and I was trying to figure out what the best way to fix the rails. I was wondering how it would look with the rail shaved
off. Any Help is appreciated. Did the Custom Deluxe C-10 come out factory with cab lights? 71 Chevy Custom Deluxe 350 w th350 |

Re: Drip Rails
Is your drip rail rusted thru? We got my son's fixed when it went for paint. It was pretty bad on the pass side. The body shop welded it up and patched the 1/2" x 1 1/2" rust hole in the top of the door frame. The PO had put duct tape over the hole and then bondo over the tape. The body guy said he had never seen that trick before! It was hard to tell how bad the problem was until we got it stripped down. I was afraid we were going to have to graft on a new corner($$). But it turned out great.
I've seen several trucks like ours with the rails shaved, but I don't have pics. I'm sure someone does.

Re: Drip Rails
Here is one that is partly shaved, came to me to finish up. If your rails are not rusted out then just scrape out all the body sealer and re cauld them. Check in the body section on this board and see what you can find. But shaving them right is alot of work and if done wrong you will end up in a bad place!

Re: Drip Rails
You can check out 70GMCer's post (Copperhead at Carlisle) of the pics he got of Stacey's David's '67 Chevy Copperhead. Stacey David shaved the drip rails on that truck too.
